National Edge Day has been celebrated by Straight Edge supporters since 1999, when the first National Edge Day event was held in Boston, Massachusetts. The festival was called “Edge Fest”. The name Straight Edge itself is derived from the song of the same name by the hardcore punk band Minor Thread, which performed in the 1980s.
