School Principals’ Day

School Principals’ Day is an annual American holiday created to honor school principals. It is the most important person in an educational organization who is involved in the processes of management, monitoring, paperwork, and more. Thanks to the efforts of the principal, the school can become an excellent institution where students will enjoy learning, and teachers from all over the country will try to get here to take their position. The holiday is celebrated on May 1.

History

The exact timing of the holiday is unknown, but information has survived that School Principals’ Day was established by Janet Dellaria. This teacher from a Michigan school decided to create such a holiday to thank all principals for their hard work and great contribution to the development of the educational institution. Her initiative was enthusiastically supported by various teachers’ associations. The holiday became very popular.

Principals came along with the first schools, because any organization needs a top management representative who will be responsible for overseeing the performance of staff duties, dealing with internal affairs in the school, monitoring order, interacting with higher educational authorities at the state level, and so on. A principal is not a scary person to be feared. He is a responsible and very intelligent person who works for the good of his institution and strives to make sure that students enjoy learning here and that teachers love their jobs and try to give the best of their knowledge to the children.

Interesting facts

  • In the United States, the first public school appeared in Boston in 1635.
  • The principal is responsible for planning and managing the school’s budget from the state.
  • A good director can be more than just a person with a pedagogical education. He must have a number of qualities: initiative, love for children, stress resistance, good communication skills, knowledge of psychology, etc. Otherwise he will not be able to perform his duties effectively.
